The week of annoying

If I could take back this week, would I?  Well, this week would have happened, I just wish it could have happened a week earlier or a couple weeks later.

It’s the first time though that I’ve ever taken a week off of work and just sat at home.  I’ve taken plenty of time off of work so I could work 18 hours a day instead, or get an MCSE in 5 days which means 22 hours of word a day.  But even now, I’m getting maybe 4 hours of sleep, so I still think taking time off of work is over rated.

Let me complain a little more.  I absolutely loath being put behind the ball all the time.  This time, and no I’m not mad, it has been my daughter.  She gets home every day and I ask her if she’s got anything from school I need to look at.  Nope.  This morning, she pulls a stack of stuff out from her backpack and says, Oh, Daddy, this is today!  What’s that?  Oh, it’s spirit day at work, I have to bring in snacks for the class because it’s only 100 days left of school day, I have box-tops to bring in by today, it’s boxtop day for the month, it’s Friday Fun sales…Uh, Grace, we have 4 minutes before the bus shows up, when did you get this paperwork.  I dunno daddy, it was just in my backpack…..

This doesn’t bug me so much, I know my little girl, however I don’t understand what the impact is if she doesn’t bring in snacks for the class today or isn’t wearing something for spirit day…I am soo many levels removed from these processes that I just don’t know.  She got boxtops and some money for Friday fun sales…She wouldn’t have gotten the boxtops if she didn’t know where her mom put them either, since I had two (2) sitting on the counter where I put them for the wife to scoop up and hide away like a squirrel somewhere.

On a side note, I’d like to give kudo’s to religion for seriously fucking up people.  This week Haggard has been in the news.  The guy preached staunchly against the evils of being homosexual, and well, ends up he is.  Religion, the tool to make people into not being people, but bricks.  Anyways, this is beyond the scope of my complaining for this post.

Jessica mentioned how she timed her attempt all wrong, since this was mid-terms week, and my security audit at work.  Seriously, is there a good date to put “Suicide Attempt, 1PM” on the calendar?  Well, if there is, I guess coordinating with other family members or looking at their calendars would be a little more considerate…..

My son is going to grow up and be a hacker, hopefully one of the good’ish guys.  The kid understands vulnerabilities and exploits, and more importantly timing.  He’s quick…

I’m just friggin tired.  I know I’m tired because coffee is only improving my performance nominally at best.  I miss work.

Here’s an odd question

Why is it that if a male teacher has sex with a student, it’s called rape and him being a pedophile…(I don’t recall this happening anytime recently though)  If a female teacher has sex with a student boy, it’s called unlawful sexual contact?

She’s a fucking pedophile, plain and simple.  Call her what she is, who’s feelings is the news trying to save?

Presidential Time Management

I read this story this morning, and though the dress code is hardly an issue with me, what does concern me is the meetings.

One thing that drives me nuts is when a meeting time is published, the agenda is published, and when you get to the meeting I find out one or both of those have been disregarded.

To me, this usually signifies that the person holding the meeting doesn’t have the experience in leadership or has a sense of self-importance that drives the meeting, not what’s on the table.  Sure, I understand that meetings can run over sometimes, but when it’s a habit or with every meeting, then it’s an issue.

The issue is that everyone in that meeting has work that has to be done.  If something is on a schedule, then the people in that meeting plan on those times to plan the rest of their day.  If the meeting gets done a few minutes early, that means that the person can spend a minute actually enjoying their coffee or getting caught up, it’s a plus…however, how often does this happen.

More or less, the lack of time management and taking other people’s lives into consideration, especially immediately out of the gate, sort of speaks to me saying that the President may need to concern himself a bit more with keeping standards a bit tighter.  His one decision for pushing a meeting time to the right, especially in his position, may be impacting dozens of peoples days.  He gets to go upstairs and have dinner with his family at his leisure, his workers have to stay late to get caught up.  Yeah, that’s a minor thing, I know, but I’m looking at the broader implications of what this could be fingerprinting.
