What does weird weather mean?
Weird weather is simply when it goes from hot to cold in one day, from the 70’s to snowing within the same week.
What kind of weather makes Donut Clouds 50 miles across though? WTF…How cool :)
I was looking at the weather this morning, looking south since typically all of our storms get kicked out of Texas and Oklahoma, and I saw this little gem for 15 minutes.
How do I know it’s about 50 miles by the way? because, from Lawton to Wichita Falls is about 50 miles…
When Science goes too far
This isn’t exactly about science.
I had a dream last night that tied into something I watched a few weeks ago, and it was oddly vivid. I normally don’t remember my dreams, and they don’t normally stick around after I hit the snooze button, but this one did.
I was driving home from work. I remember reading something at work about an unusually large sized sunspot on the sun that could be seen from the naked eye, though not recommended. For some reason, while driving home, I was driving west, which is my morning route, so that part doesn’t fit. The sun was in my eyes, and I was squinting because I wasn’t wearing my glasses for some reason. That’s when I noticed the sunspot, and thought, damn, that is big. I was about halfway home when I noticed that the sun got a bit brighter all of a sudden, and looked and saw what looked like a very large mass coronal ejection, coming from the sunspot area, and looking like it was getting bigger. I thought, damn, if that’s a big one like it looks like, in about 3 days we’re going to get hammered. I got a little worried, knowing that at a minimum, it’s going to kill all the sats in orbit, possibly hit the earth with a ton of radiation…
Then I noticed the traffic slowing way down. This is pretty typical around here, since people get all sorts of confused about exit ramps and changing lanes, so forth. The sun was on the other side of the horizon line from me, and I noticed that the sky got very dark very quickly. This was odd, since the MCE that looked like just took place shouldn’t blot the sun out, unless it was really big. That’s when I noticed over the horizon a very large dark red crescent. I moved along slowly with traffic, wondering what the hell I was seeing, and when I saw around the buildings and overpass, noticed that the sun was ballooning up, turning into a red giant. All I could think about was getting home one last time.
Then I woke up.
I think maybe I have too many things on my mind.
