Is your job making you fat?

I enjoyed this headline this morning…

It sort of goes along the lines of, “Do these pants make me look fat?” The answer, which nobody wants to hear, is “No, it’s your fat behind that makes you look fat”….

I don’t know what the solution is, but man oh man, we have to stop trying to blame issues that we have to fix on others.

Is it McDonalds that makes you fat? No, because they don’t force feed you the food. Is it my jobs fault that I have a gut? No, it’s because I don’t exercise as much as I know I should.

Doing the right thing, forcing your will-power, it is hard. Nowadays, it is so much easier to not force your will-power on issues because there are so many reasons that one can justify as to why not to do it. That’s fine, whatever…but your justifying something to make yourself feel better should be as far as it goes. Don’t blame someone else because you don’t want to do something…..

Is my job making me fat? Nope, it’s my slacking will-power to stay away from the thousand snacks in the home, that are easy to get to and eat. I would prefer that they weren’t there, then I wouldn’t have to constantly force myself away from them; but, they’re there, and nothing I can do about it, so it’s solely up to me to stay away from them. It’s nobody’s fault buy my own….and it’s definitely not my jobs fault.

I hear this a few times a month typically, someone saying that if they didn’t have to sit at their desk all the time, they’d be more active. Well, I’m in the same boat, but I do get up once or twice an hour, go for a little walk. Instead of calling to the next office, I just walk there. Instead of emailing someone, I just go talk to them.

Do those pants make you look fat? Nope, it’s your ass that makes you look fat. Suck it up, and don’t blame Levi-Strauss for your problems.
