Alido and Greenspan
Judge Alito and the other two Supreme Court nominees were put through the blender, and making news everyday. It has to do with who and what they support, and why…how comfortable Dems are going to be with a conservative Justice, yada yada yada….It’s law, they have to support it. They’re not given the right to go on a whim…
Now we have Alan Greenspan, the captain of the Fed. He’s in charge of how money is managed on a national, and in respect, international level. His last day is today…Now, his replacement had to go through the same stuff in getting selected, sitting in front of congressional panels and senate panels, to make sure he’s the right one for the job…but that barely is known, never heard from on the news, gets page 12 in the paper…
It’s just another thing that leads me to believe that our society is steering more and more for the ‘Shiny’ parts of life, and not overly concerned with the nut’s and bolts. A majority of society seems to be now saying “I have an opinion, and it’s my right to have you sit and tolerate it”, not even concerned that their opinion is based on a popularity contest.
Are we seeing the second fall of the Roman empire here?
It gets deeper than that. It is beginning to be a whole philosophy in the government, all agencies and departments, that it’s not acceptable to make anybody mad. Let’s be their friends…even agencies that are mandated to have oversight on commercial companies aren’t doing their part to provide the protection that is said to be happening. Who here remembers a particular Tuesday in September of 2001. Who remembers who got blamed because they didn’t have the resources to complete the security envelope? Anybody?
Now, we have the manning, the resources. There aren’t so many new rules as before, it’s just now we have the people to do the enforcement. Now, however, is the philosophy of Friendship…Lets be friends with the people we have oversight on, instead of using the resources we have to enforce the standard. Ahh, isn’t that nice.
It’s also going to be the cause of the next of our next big incident…and what’s the public outcry going to be? Why Didn’t we stop this!!!
It’s because everyone wants to be complacent, forget security, pretend it just happens with no management, and blame others. But, at the same time, they (meaning all of you that this pertains to) don’t want to, or feel they have to, reduce their RIGHTS as a citizen at all. Because, after all, it’s being proven that the rights of the one outweigh the rights of the many.
New week
In other news, working here is just like every other job site I’ve been at, you hit the ground at a dead sprint. I’m coping pretty well though. I think I’m just too dumb and don’t know any different hehe. It’s not hard after all, just learning the processes immediately, trying to act like you know what happened the past 6 months when you don’t have a clue, and just getting ramped up on all the projects in a matter of days, it’s a little consuming. It’s hard to leave the office everyday and not work 80 hours just to get caught up. Well, sort of hard.
There are other things going on right now, some pretty significant, that aren’t work related. But, that’ll be a story for another day. Life is life after all, and it’s fun to live :)
A friendly reminder
February 3rd is the payload date for the CME 24 virus. It’s also known as the Nyxem-E , Blackmal, MyWife, Kama Sutra, and the Grew virus.
I wrote a little about this on the previous posting, and linked to how to fix it.
The rule of thumb is, if you get an attachment in your email, you should be very wary about opening it. If it’s from someone you know, it’s a good practice to know that they’re sending you something. If it’s from someone you don’t know, well, lets take a wild guess about whether you should open it or not…um, that’s a NO in case you’re not so good at wild guessing.
Some of these virus payloads exploit everyday programs as well. This one I believe is targeting MS Office suite applications. This should be a warning…don’t only concern yourself with keeping your anti-virus and operating system (OS) up to date…you should also try and keep the applications up to date as well.
Also, make sure to back up any information you want to save, be it work or personal. Looking more at the payload for this CME 24 virus, and it looks as if it is meant to delete your MS Office and Acrobat files. Sorry for the mis-step above. Back it up to a medium that cannot be deleted by any activity, including a virus. What I mean is burn it to disc if you can’t or won’t try to fix the virus problem.
Ahh, this post is very poorly written. It’s Monday, that’s my excuse. I just don’t feel like going back over it and fixing it…
